The short answer
Drawing a conversation, or letting your website answer
Choose AI Chat Bot if you'd rather not design a conversation at all. It reads your website, answers visitors' questions from it in their own words, asks for their details, books them in and emails you the lead within seconds. Every conversation is an AI conversation, with no second meter, and paid plans start at $19 a month. Landbot's Starter is $36 a month billed yearly, with 100 AI chats.
Stay with Landbot if structured flows are the point: buttons, forms, quizzes and lead scoring you lay out yourself, the same bot on WhatsApp and Messenger, and a shared inbox where your team takes over chats live. Landbot does those well, and we don't do them.
How we compared
We make AI Chat Bot, so read our side knowing that. On October 1, 2026 we read Landbot's pricing page (US dollar prices and its FAQ), and its help articles on the AI Agent block, the Calendly block and sending emails, plus its reviews on Capterra, which we quote without claiming they're typical. Every Landbot fact below links to where we read it or comes from the pricing page checked that day. We didn't build a Landbot bot for this page, so nothing here is a test result.
Why people switch
Why small businesses look for a Landbot alternative
You draw the conversation, then keep it up
In Landbot you build a flow from blocks. The AI Agent is one of those blocks: you write its instructions, give it knowledge, define the fields to collect and the outputs that send people back into the flow. Its help article warns that an agent with fields but no instruction to collect them won't collect them. One Capterra reviewer found it gets tricky once a bot grows advanced.

AI chats are a separate, smaller allowance
Chats and AI chats are counted apart. Free includes no AI chats, Starter includes 100 a month and Professional 300, and each AI chat after that costs $0.10. A website where most visitors ask questions in their own words uses AI chats quickly.

Bookings, CRM and your own brand wait for Professional
The Calendly block, HubSpot and other premium integrations, webhooks and removing Landbot's branding all start on Professional: $88 a month billed yearly, or $110 month to month. Several Capterra reviewers single out price as the weak spot.

Lead emails run through your own SendGrid account
Landbot's Send an Email block can alert your team when a lead comes in, but it sends through SendGrid. The built-in Landbot address is “for testing only”, and the help article says continuous use needs a paid SendGrid subscription.

Side by side
AI Chat Bot vs Landbot, row by row
| Feature | AI Chat Bot | Landbot |
|---|---|---|
| Starting paid price | Starter: $19 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly, for 1,500 customer messages on one website. | Starter: $36 a month billed yearly, or $45 month to month, for 500 chats, 100 AI chats and 2 seats. |
| What you pay for, and what happens at the limit | One customer message answered, AI included. Past your allowance it keeps answering in shorter form, never charges overage, and an optional top-up adds 2,000 messages for $20. | Chats and AI chats on separate meters. Extra chats cost $0.05 each and extra AI chats $0.10 each; it alerts you at 80% and 90% of your chats. |
| Free plan or trial | Try it on your own site with no account, then a 7-day trial of 200 messages with no card. After that, Free answers 100 messages a month in full, for ever. | Free: 100 chats a month on the web, 1 seat, no AI chats and no AI Agent block. A 14-day trial with everything included needs no card; afterwards you move to Free. |
| Setup | Paste your web address. It reads your main pages in about a minute and up to 40 once you sign up; you check its answers and add one line of code or the WordPress plugin. | You build a flow in the visual builder or from a template, add an AI Agent block with instructions, knowledge, fields and outputs, and publish. Its Agent Studio team will build it for you, included on Business and sold as a service on other plans. |
| Where answers come from | Your pages, your documents (PDF, Word or text, up to 4 MB each) and your own answers. Re-read every week, or every day on Growth and Pro. | The AI Agent's knowledge: up to 200,000 characters of text or files (PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, RTF), or up to 200,000 characters of a website's HTML when it scrapes a URL. A refresh schedule isn't published. |
| When it doesn't know | It says so and offers a person instead of guessing; an answer with nothing behind it is replaced by a handoff. | Its pricing FAQ says answers are grounded in your knowledge base, and you can keep critical paths on buttons. What the agent says when the knowledge has no answer is set in your instructions. |
| Handing over to a person | A Talk to a person button under every reply, on every plan. You're emailed their question and details at once and reply by phone or email. No live chat inbox. | Human takeover in a shared inbox where your team replies live; its pricing FAQ lists it from Starter, and each person uses a seat. You connect it as an output in your flow. |
| Leads and owner alerts | Built in. It asks for a name, a way to reach them and what they need, then emails you within seconds with a one-line summary. Unanswered, one reminder at 5 minutes, then your backup contact. | Lead fields and a lead scoring block in your flow, with team emails through the Send an Email block and SendGrid. A reminder or backup-contact step isn't published. |
| Bookings | Sends customers to the booking page you already use, Calendly included, or offers your real free times from Google Calendar. On every plan. | A Calendly block on Professional and Business. Google Calendar only through Calendly. |
| CRM and other tools | A webhook on every plan sends each lead to Zapier or Make, and on to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce or anything else. | Mailchimp and Segment from Starter; native HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, Google Sheets and webhooks from Professional. Native CRM blocks are a Landbot advantage. |
| Channels | Your website (one line of code or the WordPress plugin) and a hosted chat page. No WhatsApp, Messenger or SMS chat. | Web, Messenger and API chat from Starter; WhatsApp on your own number from Professional for $100 a month more, plus Meta's message fees. Landbot is well ahead here. |
| Team, AI model and security | One owner login with two-step sign-in. One AI model, chosen by us. No team seats or SOC 2 report yet. | 2 seats on Starter and 3 on Professional, with extra seats at €25 a month in its euro table. You choose the agent's AI model. SOC 2 and GDPR, an EU-based platform, and chats not used to train models. |
| Removing the badge | $19 a month, on any plan. | Included from Professional, at $88 a month billed yearly. |
| Best fit | Small and local businesses that want visitors' questions answered from their own website, leads emailed and bookings made, without designing a flow. | Marketing and sales teams that want to design structured flows, run them on the web and WhatsApp, and take over chats live. |

Where we're the better pick
Where AI Chat Bot is the better pick
Your website is the flow
There's nothing to lay out. It reads your pages, picks out your services, prices, hours and area, and answers whatever visitors ask in their own words, including the questions you'd never have drawn a button for. You can be chatting with it on your own site in about a minute. How it works.
Every chat is an AI chat, on one meter
You pay per customer message answered, and the AI is inside that price. At about 1,500 messages a month that's Starter at $19, against roughly $64 to $76 on Landbot Starter once its extra AI chats are added (see the costs below). Pricing.
Lead alerts and bookings on every plan
Each lead is emailed to you within seconds with a one-line summary, chased with a reminder at 5 minutes and passed to your backup contact if nobody answers, with no email provider to set up (lead alerts). Bookings go to your Calendly or other booking page, or your Google Calendar's free times, on the Free plan too (bookings).
It knows what it doesn't know
An answer has to come from your facts or quote your own pages. When nothing covers a question, it says so and passes the visitor to you instead of improvising. The Test page shows its answers before customers see them, and you can fix one in a step. Test and correct.
Rules for your trade, and proof it's working
Pick from 25 business types, each with its own rules: a law firm's assistant says early that it isn't a lawyer, a salon's never takes card details in chat. Results holds back a share of visitors and compares the two groups, so you see what the assistant adds. Business types, Results.
Where they're the better pick
Where Landbot is the better pick
WhatsApp and Messenger
Landbot runs the same flows and AI agents on your website, Messenger and an official WhatsApp number. If your customers message you on WhatsApp, Landbot covers it; we only cover your website and a hosted chat page.
A team that takes over chats live
Its shared inbox lets your staff jump into a conversation and reply in real time, with each person on a seat. We email you the visitor's question and details and you reply by phone or email; there's no live chat inbox.
Structured flows you design
Buttons, forms, picture choices, rating scales, lead scoring and A/B tests let a marketing team control every step, which suits conversational landing pages and surveys. And if you'd rather not build at all, Landbot's Agent Studio team builds the agent for you.
Native CRM blocks and a review track record
Professional connects straight to HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Zoho without Zapier, and Landbot has years of public reviews (4.4 of 5 from 70 on Capterra when we read it). We're new: no review-site ratings or published case studies yet.
Everything AI Chat Bot does
What you get, on every plan
Answers you can trust
Answers from your website and documents
Paste your address and it reads your key pages in about a minute, and up to 40 once you sign up. Add price lists or brochures as PDF, Word or text files, and write your own answers to common questions. How it works.
Says when it doesn't know
An answer has to come from your facts or quote your own pages word for word. When nothing covers a question, it says so and passes it to you instead of guessing. Custom chatbot.
Stays up to date
It re-reads your website every week, or every day on Growth and Pro, and emails you when a price or policy it quotes has changed.
Answers in your customer's language
It replies in the language the visitor writes in, from the same facts, and the chat's buttons switch to that language too.
Leads, bookings and handoffs
Captures the lead
It answers first, then asks for a name, a way to reach them and what they need, and keeps the full conversation with the lead. Lead generation.
Email alerts in seconds
Each lead arrives by email with a one-line summary of what they want. Unanswered, you get one reminder after 5 minutes, then your backup contact is told. Urgent leads are marked urgent. Lead alerts.
Books appointments
It sends customers to the booking page you already use, or connects to Google Calendar and offers your real free times. Bookings.
A person is always one tap away
A Talk to a person button sits under every reply. Asking for you sends you their question and details at once. Human handoff.
Sends leads to your CRM
A webhook passes each lead to Zapier or Make, and from there into HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce or anything else. CRM guides.
Control and proof
Check answers before customers see them
The Test page shows its answers to the questions your customers ask. Fix one in a step, and preview what an edit changes before you save it. Test and correct.
Rules for your kind of business
25 business types each come with their own rules: a roofer's assistant never promises what insurance pays, a dentist's never gives clinical advice. Business types.
Results measured against a control group
Hold back a small share of visitors from seeing it, and Results compares the two groups, so you see what it adds rather than every lead it touched. Customers' ratings of their chats show there too. Results.
Your data, yours to take
Download your leads and conversations as a spreadsheet, choose how long they're kept, and delete your account yourself. Security and privacy.
On your website
One line of code, or a plugin
Paste one line into any website, install the free WordPress plugin, or share your own chat page link. Chat widget.
Never in the way
It never pops open by itself, takes your colors, and goes full screen on phones so it's easy to use.
Answers around the clock
Evenings and weekends get the same answers as office hours, and urgent leads can wake you if you want them to. After hours.
Plans: Free for ever with 100 customer messages a month, after a 7-day trial of 200. Paid plans from $19 a month, no setup fee, cancel any time. Compare plans.
What it costs
What it costs at the volumes a small business has
| Customer messages a month | AI Chat Bot | Landbot |
|---|---|---|
| About 300 (75 to 100 chats) | Starter: $19 a month ($17 billed yearly) for 1,500 messages, with bookings and the lead webhook included. Free answers the first 100 in full. | Starter: $36 a month billed yearly covers 100 AI chats. Calendly booking, webhooks and no Landbot branding need Professional at $88. |
| About 1,500 (375 to 500 chats) | Starter at $19. A month that runs past 1,500 keeps answering in shorter form, or one top-up adds 2,000 for $20. | About $64 to $76 on Starter: $36 plus 275 to 400 extra AI chats at $0.10. About $96 to $108 on Professional: $88 plus 75 to 200 extra AI chats. |
| About 5,000 (1,250 to 1,650 chats) | Growth: $49 a month ($43 billed yearly) for 5,000 messages, on up to five websites. | About $183 to $223 on Professional: $88 plus 950 to 1,350 extra AI chats at $0.10. Business is priced by contract, from €400 a month in its euro table. |
Landbot figures are its US prices billed yearly, from its pricing page read on October 1, 2026; month to month, Starter is $45 and Professional $110. We assumed 3 to 4 customer messages per chat and that every chat on a website assistant uses the AI agent; a chat that stays on buttons counts only against the cheaper chat allowance. Extra seats (€25 a month in Landbot's euro table), WhatsApp ($100 a month plus Meta's fees) and a paid SendGrid plan for lead emails aren't included. Our prices are per month, with the yearly rate in brackets; badge removal is $19 a month on ours and included from Professional on Landbot.

Switching
Moving from Landbot to AI Chat Bot
Try it on your own website
Paste your web address on our home page. In about a minute it has read your main pages, and you can ask it the questions your Landbot flow was built around, with no account.
Bring over your knowledge, not your flow
Upload the PDF, Word or text files you gave Landbot's AI agent (up to 4 MB each here) and copy any answers you wrote into your own answers. Flows, buttons, forms, lead scoring, A/B tests and WhatsApp settings don't carry over: it asks for details in conversation instead, one at a time.
Set alerts, hours and bookings
Choose where lead emails go and add a backup contact, set your opening hours, and paste your Calendly or other booking link, or connect Google Calendar. If Landbot sent leads to HubSpot or a sheet, our webhook does that through Zapier or Make (CRM guides).
Swap the widget, keep your history
Landbot says your chat history leaves with you, so export it before you cancel. Then remove the Landbot snippet, add our line of code or WordPress plugin, and in the first week answer anything on the To check list once. Test and correct.
Questions
Questions buyers ask
Is AI Chat Bot a good Landbot alternative for a small business?
Yes, if you want your website's visitors answered from your own pages and their details sent to you, without building a flow. Plans start at $19 a month with bookings and lead alerts included. If you need WhatsApp, a live team inbox or structured forms, Landbot is the better fit.
Is Landbot free?
Landbot's Free plan includes 100 chats a month on the web and one seat, but no AI chats, so it can't answer free-form questions with AI (pricing). Our Free plan answers 100 customer messages a month in full with AI, every month, and keeps answering in shorter form after that.
Can I keep using Calendly?
Yes. Paste your Calendly link as your booking page and the assistant sends customers there when they want to book, on any plan. If you use Google Calendar directly, it can offer your real free times instead.
Does AI Chat Bot have human takeover like Landbot?
Not as a live inbox. A Talk to a person button sits under every reply, and pressing it emails you the visitor's question and contact details at once so you can call or email them back. If your team needs to reply inside the chat while the visitor waits, Landbot's shared inbox does that. Human handoff.
Can I build button flows or forms in AI Chat Bot?
No. There's no flow builder: visitors type, it answers from your facts and asks for their details in conversation. You choose when it asks (straight away, after answering, or only when they want to book), and urgent enquiries are always asked at once.
Does AI Chat Bot work on WhatsApp?
No. It runs on your website and on a hosted chat page you can link from your Google Business Profile, social bios or emails. Landbot offers WhatsApp from its Professional plan, plus Meta's fees.
Landbot is a trademark of its owner. AI Chat Bot isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Landbot. Competitor details come from their own public pages on the date shown and can change; tell us if something is out of date and we'll correct it.
