Before you start
- A Squarespace Core, Plus or Advanced plan (or some legacy plans). Code injection isn't included on the entry plans.
- Your code from your assistant's Widget page.
Steps
- Sign in, open your assistant's Widget page and copy the one line of code shown there. It starts with <script and ends with </script>.
- Open the Pages panel and click Custom Code at the bottom. On older version 7.0 sites, click Website Tools instead.
- Click Code Injection.
- Paste your code into the Footer box. The code already includes its <script> tags.
- Click Save.
- Open your website in a new tab and look for the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner. Your Widget page shows "Widget live" once it has been seen on your site.

Good to know
- If added code ever gets in the way while you edit your site, Squarespace offers Disable Scripts in Preview.
- Squarespace doesn't run added code on checkout pages.
Can't edit your website?
Every assistant has its own chat page. Link to it from your website's menu, your Google Business Profile, social media or email signature. Or use "Email this to my web person" on your Widget page to send the code to whoever runs your site.
