Why it matters
The security question at 6pm on a Friday
A buyer is building a shortlist for Monday's meeting. They need to know whether you integrate with their CRM, roughly what twenty seats cost, and whether you've got SOC 2.
Your integrations page answers the first. Your pricing page answers the second. The third depends on whether you've published it, and a chatbot that answers "yes" from general knowledge has just made a security claim on your behalf.
This answers the first two from your pages, says it'll have the team confirm the third if your site doesn't say, and takes a work email so the answer reaches them before Monday.

Example conversation
A shortlist question on a Friday evening
- Do you integrate with Salesforce?
The question on every shortlist
- Yes, there's a two-way Salesforce integration that syncs contacts and deals. It's on the Growth plan and above.
From your integrations and pricing pages, and cited
- Are you SOC 2 Type II certified? Our security team will ask.
- I don't want to guess on something your security team will rely on, so I'll have our team confirm it and send you the details. What's the best work email to reach you?
Not published on the site, so never a yes
- priya@northwind.example. We're about 20 people. Could we see a demo next week?
- Thanks Priya. You can pick a time for a demo here, and the team will have the security answer to you before then.

What customers ask
What buyers ask before a demo
- What does your product actually do?
- Does it integrate with HubSpot?
- How much is it for a team of 20?
- Is there a free trial, and do I need a card?
- Are you SOC 2 compliant?
- Where is our data stored?
- Can we cancel anytime?
- Can I see a demo?
It answers these from your own website, and hands over any it can't.
What it does
What it does for you
Answers from your pages and your docs
Features, integrations, plans and setup, from your website and any documents you add, with the source cited for every answer.
Hands over what you haven't published
A security, compliance or integration question your site doesn't answer gets "let me have the team confirm", never a guess, and you get the open question with the lead.
Qualifies without a form wall
Once someone is interested it asks for a work email, the company and the team size, and offers your demo booking link.
Existing customers reach the right place
Billing, login and bug questions get the account email taken and go to your team, with your help centre or status page pointed to if you publish one.
Rules it follows
Claims rules it follows
No security or compliance claim you don't publish
It never claims SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, encryption, data residency, uptime or an SLA unless your site states it, and then only in your words. The FTC has acted against overstated encryption claims before.
No capabilities, integrations or roadmap beyond your site
It never says the product does or integrates with something your site doesn't say, and never says a feature is coming. Overstating what software can do is a claim the FTC treats like any other.
Trial and cancellation terms as written
It states trial length, renewal, cancellation and refund terms as your site does, and never summarises them as "cancel anytime" unless you do. Recurring charges sold online have to disclose their material terms before billing.
Published prices only
It quotes plans as your pricing page does. A custom quote, a discount or a price for a seat count you don't show goes to sales with the details.
No secrets in the chat
It never asks for a password, an API key, a token or a one-time code. If someone pastes one, it tells them to replace it and doesn't repeat it.

Questions
Common questions
Someone asks if we're SOC 2 compliant and our site doesn't say. What happens?
It says it will have the team confirm, and takes a work email. It never answers yes from general knowledge, because a security claim made in your chat is a claim your company made.
Can it answer from our documentation, not just the marketing site?
Yes. You can add pages from your help centre or docs site, and upload documents such as a security overview, and it answers from those with the source cited.
Will it promise features that are on our roadmap?
No. It describes what the product does today, as your site describes it. A question about something that isn't there yet goes to your team.
Can it handle support for existing customers?
Only as far as your public help content goes. It can't see accounts, so billing, login and bug questions get the account email taken and go to your team. It isn't a support desk, and doesn't pretend to be.
Will it quote a price for our enterprise plan?
Only what your pricing page shows. A custom quote, a discount or a contract term is a sales conversation, so it takes the details and passes them on.
What if someone pastes an API key into the chat?
It tells them not to share keys in a chat and to replace that one, and doesn't repeat it. It never asks for a password, a key, a token or a code.
